The Pretty Reckless Recruit Dave Grohl and Pat Smear for ‘About You’ Bonus Version

The Pretty Reckless have released a new bonus version of “About You,” bringing Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear into the orbit of the band’s fifth studio album, Dear God.

Grohl performs drums, guitar and backing vocals on the reworked track, while Smear contributes guitar. The expanded lineup adds another layer of weight and texture to a song Taylor Momsen has described as one of her favorites on the album.

Momsen said she wanted to do something special with the song and reached out directly to Grohl and Smear. She described the studio session as friends making music together and said she could not be happier with the result.

The release extends a major album cycle for The Pretty Reckless. Dear God produced the Mainstream Rock chart-topper “When I Wake Up,” giving the band its ninth No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart and further extending its record among female-led acts.

The collaboration is especially notable for active-rock listeners: it pairs one of the format’s most successful modern bands with two musicians whose shared history runs through Nirvana and Foo Fighters, while spotlighting a key track from one of 2026’s biggest rock releases.
