KISS have returned to one of the key tracks from their 1976 album Rock And Roll Over. A new 2026 stereo mix of “Mr. Speed” by original producer and engineer Eddie Kramer was released October 16 and is now being serviced to rock radio.
The release is also available as a 7-inch single. Its B-side features a previously unreleased instrumental demo of “Mr. Speed,” giving listeners a look at the song before it became the Gene Simmons-led album cut fans have known for five decades.
Kramer created the new mix from the original analog multitrack tapes. He originally recorded Rock And Roll Over in a theater, aiming to preserve the energy of a live KISS performance without an audience.
The single previews the Rock And Roll Over 50th-anniversary collection arriving November 6. The expanded editions include the new Kramer stereo mix, 22 unreleased demos, alternate mixes and outtakes, plus material from KISS’s first Japanese performances at Tokyo’s Nippon Budokan in April 1977.
Rock And Roll Over reached No. 11 on the Billboard 200, earned Platinum certification from the RIAA and produced the Top 20 singles “Calling Dr. Love” and “Hard Luck Woman.” The new “Mr. Speed” mix offers a cleaner modern presentation without replacing the original 1976 version.
