Slash Says Guns N’ Roses Will Pause Touring in 2027 to Focus on New Music

Guns N’ Roses are planning to step away from the road in 2027 and turn their attention toward new music, according to Slash.

During an October 12 appearance on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, the guitarist said the band has accumulated a substantial amount of material but needs uninterrupted time together to develop it. Slash explained that writing while touring is possible individually, but bringing the ideas from Axl Rose, Duff McKagan and himself together requires the group to be off the road.

The plan is significant because Guns N’ Roses have maintained a heavy touring schedule since Slash and McKagan rejoined Rose in 2016. Their most recent full studio album remains 2008’s Chinese Democracy, although the reunited lineup has released several standalone tracks built from previously recorded material.

Slash stopped short of announcing a recording schedule, album title or release date. For now, the confirmed news is a planned 2027 touring pause and an intention to work through the band’s growing collection of song ideas.

Guns N’ Roses still have scheduled performances remaining in 2026, including dates in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, along with appearances at Aerosmith’s Hollywood Bowl comeback shows.
