Kingdom of Giants have released “10 Cent Martyr”, a new single that widens the California band’s modern-metal palette while keeping the impact that made them a metalcore fixture. The accompanying official video arrived October 14.
The song is the latest advance track from Usurper, due November 13 through SharpTone Records. It follows “Respawn,” “Reign” and “The Edge of a Dream” and lands less than a month before the 11-song record arrives.
Vocalist Dana Willax said the band used the track to move away from familiar metalcore riffing and experiment with a broader set of vocal tones. That shift is especially clear in the contrast between Willax and bassist/vocalist JT Gutierrez, giving the song a push-and-pull dynamic that feels built for both active-rock playlists and heavy live rooms.
Usurper also marks a hands-on recording milestone for Kingdom of Giants. The members, who are spread across the West Coast, regrouped in person in Long Beach, Northern California and Las Vegas. Willax served as producer, mixer and mastering engineer, making the album one of the band’s most internally driven projects to date.
The band will take the new material on a North American headlining tour with Deadlands, Holy Wars and Night Rider. The run opens November 14 at the Vera Project in Seattle and closes December 18 at Goldfield Trading Post in Sacramento, with stops including Nashville on December 8, Atlanta on December 9, Dallas on December 11, Austin on December 12 and San Antonio on December 13.
For Kingdom of Giants, “10 Cent Martyr” is more than another pre-album single: it is a clear sign that Usurper is designed to stretch the band’s sound without abandoning the weight and melodic tension that longtime listeners expect.
