Bad Wolves Release ‘Jolene’ With Dolly Parton to Benefit Imagination Library
Bad Wolves have released a new version of “Jolene” featuring Dolly Parton’s vocals, pairing their hard-rock interpretation with the voice behind the original. The track arrived October 23 through Better Noise Music, with proceeds benefiting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
This is a new edition of the band’s cover, which first appeared August 31. According to the release announcement supplied by Atom Splitter PR, Parton’s team provided previously recorded vocal stems, which her longtime producer Kent Wells mixed for the collaboration. The announcement says the new version was made with the support and approval of Parton’s estate.
The accompanying music video brings Nashville’s School of Rock students into the project alongside Bad Wolves. The idea followed a gathering at NOZ Studios earlier this month, where the band, label and Parton’s team heard the completed track together, according to the announcement.
The charity connection gives the release a purpose beyond a crossover collaboration. Imagination Library provides free books to young children, and the official streaming page confirms that proceeds from this version will support that work. No specific donation amount has been announced.
For listeners who heard Bad Wolves’ first recording, the defining change is Parton’s own voice joining the arrangement. The new version and its official music video are available now.
