Wendy’s Goes Full Emo With New EP Featuring Members of Memphis May Fire, Silverstein, Blessthefall and More
Wendy’s just gave “sad meal” an entirely new meaning.
The fast-food chain has officially released a six-song emo and pop-punk EP titled Songs to Listen to in a Wendy’s Parking Lot. Released in partnership with Rise Records, the project features recognizable voices from several bands familiar to The Sound 228 audience.
Instead of treating the release like a throwaway commercial, Wendy’s recruited established musicians and producer Matt Squire, whose credits include Panic! At The Disco, All Time Low, Sum 41 and Simple Plan. Wendy’s also emphasized that the music was created by real artists—not artificial intelligence.
The featured performers include Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire and Anberlin, Chloe Kinnon of Winona Fighter, Shane Told of Silverstein, Beau Bokan of Blessthefall, Derek DiScanio of State Champs and Kat Leon of Holy Wars.

The six-song tracklist includes:
“She Said She Didn’t Want Fries” featuring Matty Mullins
“Salt in the Wound” featuring Chloe Kinnon
“I Miss the Sunroom” featuring Shane Told
“The Best Combo Meal on the Worst Night of My Life” featuring Beau Bokan
“It’s Not a Phase, It’s a 10PC” featuring Derek DiScanio
“My Frosty’s Funeral” featuring Kat Leon
The concept mixes legitimate pop-punk and emo production with lyrics about fries, Frostys, combo meals and the emotional refuge of sitting inside a car in a Wendy’s parking lot. It is obviously a marketing campaign—but the musicians involved give it considerably more authenticity than the average corporate parody.
This also isn’t Wendy’s first unexpected trip into the music business. In 2018, the company released the hip-hop project We Beefin’? This time, the beats have been replaced by distorted guitars, dramatic vocals and enough fast-food heartbreak to make a Frosty melt.
Songs to Listen to in a Wendy’s Parking Lot is available now through Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and other major streaming services.
