Rock history might be gearing up for one more thunderous chapter.
Sharon Osbourne has confirmed she is in active talks with Live Nation about reviving the legendary Ozzfest festival. In a recent interview with Billboard, the iconic manager and TV personality shared that the spirit of Ozzfest is calling her back into action.
“I’ve been talking to Live Nation about bringing Ozzfest back,” Sharon said. “It was something Ozzy was very passionate about. Giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people. We really started metal festivals in this country. Ours was different. It was about new talent. It was like summer camp for kids.”
For fans who grew up in the pit, Ozzfest was more than a festival. It was a rite of passage.
Running nearly every year from 1996 through 2018, Ozzfest became one of the most important heavy music festivals in the world. What began as a two-day event in Phoenix and Devore, California in October 1996 exploded into a massive touring festival across the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Legends shared stages with unknown bands who would later become household names in metal and hard rock.
Now, Sharon says a new version of Ozzfest could rise as early as 2027, but it will not be a carbon copy of the past.
“I’d like to mix up the genres,” she explained, hinting at an evolved lineup while still honoring the original mission of spotlighting new and emerging artists.
And that is not the only ambitious project on her plate.
Sharon also revealed she is working with Live Nation on a groundbreaking classical tour of BLACK SABBATH’s catalog. The concept would feature local orchestras performing Sabbath’s legendary songs, paired with cutting-edge visuals for a fully immersive experience.
Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025, from a heart attack. His death certificate cited coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease as contributing conditions. But his legacy continues to shape the future of rock and metal.
If Ozzfest returns, it will not just be a festival comeback. It will be a tribute to Ozzy’s lifelong mission to give new bands a chance to be loud, be seen, and be heard.
From the pit to the future, the Prince of Darkness may be gone, but his festival flame is far from extinguished.
Stay tuned, New Rock Nation.Ozzfest might be loading back into the tour bus.
