Hollow Front Announce New Album No Love Without Despair

Hollow Front are moving forward against the odds.
The Michigan metalcore band have announced their fourth full-length album, No Love Without Despair, arriving independently on December 11. The record marks the return of vocalist Dakota Alvarez and represents a completely self-funded chapter for the band, created without support from a record label or management company.
Preorders for the album are available now on vinyl and CD.
Dakota Alvarez Returns Following a Stroke
Alvarez originally left Hollow Front in 2023 while dealing with the emotional fallout from the band’s 2022 bus accident and resulting legal situation.
He later suffered an ischemic stroke while performing with Amoura in 2024. The stroke damaged areas of his brain and affected his ability to play guitar, remember lyrics and recognize musical pitch and melody.
Alvarez has now returned to Hollow Front as a vocalist. Although his physical limitations currently prevent him from resuming his former guitar role, the upcoming album documents his process of reconnecting with music and rebuilding skills that once felt automatic.
That recovery can already be heard on “So Long to Yesterday,” Hollow Front’s first song since welcoming Alvarez back into the band. The track introduces a new three-vocalist approach while maintaining the combination of heaviness, melody and emotional weight that has powered Hollow Front’s rise through modern metalcore.
Hollow Front Take the Independent Route
No Love Without Despair will be Hollow Front’s first album since The Fear of Letting Go, released through UNFD in 2023.
This time, the band financed every part of the project themselves—including its recording, artwork, music videos and merchandise. Hollow Front said the album exists because the members refused to give up, even when they were uncertain whether the band still had a future.
That independent approach gives the record a bigger story beyond the music. No Love Without Despair represents a band rebuilding itself after physical trauma, financial pressure and major lineup changes without the safety net of outside backing.

Hollow Front have built their sound by connecting metalcore’s breakdown-driven intensity with melody and deeply personal writing. The circumstances surrounding this album make that emotional approach even more immediate.
