Oklahoma’s MOTHICA was just on a run as support for I See Stars on the Spin The Wheel Tour from late February through early April, joined by Until I Wake and Diamante.  The Sound 228 contributing photographer Jonathan Galeano of Jgaleanofilms captured MOTHICA’s set at Delmar Hall in St. Louis, Missouri Thursday, April 2nd.

MOTHICA’s musical style is described as “melancholy gloom pop” and “emo-influenced alt-pop music”. Vocalist and songwriter McKenzie Ashton Ellis writes songs that explore themes of mental health, trauma, and sobriety. She tries to create a sense of community for the listeners. MOTHICA recently released a five-song EP called Somewhere In Between February 20th.

Delmar Hall opened in 2016 as a modern-day version of Mississippi Nights, the beloved riverfront club that closed in 2007 after a thirty-year run.  It was designed as a companion venue to The Pageant, which is right next door. Delmar Hall quickly became known for being a premier mid-level venue in St. Louis, accommodating shows with up to 750 music enthusiasts.
